AIPC’s mission is to encourage and recognize the highest standards in facility management and operations. AIPC members are committed to the principles of management excellence, and these are addressed in a number of ways;

• AIPC Membership Requirements: Admission to AIPC membership is contingent on facilities meeting a set of entry standards and successfully completing a site inspection by an AIPC official.

• AIPC Quality Standards program: was developed in response to ongoing interest by members in having an industry-specific program for identifying and evaluating key areas of convention centre performance leading to an accepted form of recognition. At the same time, there was a requirement for a professional “arms length” audit process in order to ensure the credibility of results.

• AIPC Apex Award: The Apex Award is AIPC’s highest form of recognition, and recognizes the member centre that has achieved the rating of “World’s Best Congress Centre” in an evaluation carried out annually by an international university. All members are eligible to compete for the Apex Award, and the winner is announced at the AIPC Annual Conference for that year. The Apex Award evaluation process is also a valuable learning exercise for members, since every entrant receives a copy of their evaluation form which they can use to identify any areas of weakness and improve their overall performance.
